The Canadian Mortgage Awards is the industry’s most prestigious event, and recognizes the best of the best in the industry from lenders, to brokers, to service providers.

Many people have asked: How did Champion Mortgage get named # 1 mortgage brokerage in the country for customer service? Since it was unexpected that a small company from Guelph was nominated, selected as a finalist (the top 8 in the country) and then ultimately named the best, the detailed process taken by the Canadian Mortgage Awards is explained below:
Banks, lenders, insurers, brokers and other industry professionals can nominate any brokerage they feel deserves consideration. All of the nominations are reviewed, and followed up with research on the individual brokerages that have been nominated. The list of nominees is then reduced to a group of finalists by the Canadian Mortgage Awards based on their research and findings. Each finalist is then asked to complete a Report (similar to a case study) that asks questions about the finalist’s business practices, operations, strategies, commitment to customer service, and success stories. The finalist is also asked to provide testimonials or recommendations from clients and business partners. Lastly, a panel of highly accredited and respected judges independently selects a winner. This year, the judges included Alan Tennant who has a long list of accolades including former President of the Canadian Real Estate Association, Ron Penner President of the Real Estate Institute of Canada, Frances Blau a 50-year veteran of the mortgage industry and winner of the 2014 Lifetime Achievement award, John Andrew Director of Queen’s University’s Executive Seminars on Corporate and Investment Real Estate and Professor recognized as an expert in many aspects of Real Estate, and Aldo Cundari founder of Canada’s largest and most globally awarded independent communications agency, Cundari.
